Software Free Of Capital Costs.-April 2001

Manchester Software Vendor Pioneers ‘Pay as You Use’ Implementation.

XeBusiness the supply chain software vendor that specialises in providing specialist business management software (Xe-ERP) to the Textile, Apparel and Soft Goods sectors, believes it is the first software vendor to offer its market leading applications software free of capital cost in these sectors.

This means that these small apparel and soft goods companies can adopt Xe-ERP on a ‘pay as you use’ basis linked to their size and what software modules they choose to deploy.

XeBusiness has pioneered ways of making business technology available to small companies to eliminate the capital cost and risk elements inherent in the adoption of new computer systems to improve business performance and competitiveness.

A comprehensive and fully supported set of specialist business modules covering Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Manufacturing and Distribution are available from as little as £50 per month with nothing else to pay. Payback for small companies who sign up for the service in terms of operating cost reduction and customer service improvement is immediate.

David Cullis, XeBusiness MD, commenting on the launch of the new applications service said:

“There is a lot of hype about deploying ecommerce systems to trade electronically over the Internet for competitive advantage. However, the simple fact of the matter is that unless smaller companies in particular have effective and responsive in-house systems to deal with customer response and cost reduction issues, any Business to Business (B2B) trading over the Internet, is almost certain to fail.”

Supply Chain Technology Company Announces New WMS

(Warehouse Management System) Product and New Contracts

XeBusiness, the Manchester based supply chain computer software vendor, has launched a new version of its specialist Apparel WMS system with new functionality to reflect use of ‘state of the art’ RF (Radio Frequency) bar code scanners.

The new product version further facilitates warehouse management in operational areas covering accuracy, process and procedure streamlining and productivity in receiving, putting away, picking and shipping both hanging and boxed apparel products.

Effective warehouse management is crucial to enable fast and accurate response to customer orders and ‘call-offs’ from retailers and corporate clients. Stock must be booked into the warehouse fast and accurately, then put away in the most appropriate part of the warehouse for subsequent easy retrieval, picked quickly and accurately and finally despatched with accurate supporting documentation compliant with the requirements of the major high street apparel retailers.

The XeBusiness WMS is fully Ecommerce/EDI enabled and has been developed for rapid deployment at a fraction of the cost of more generic and less specialised systems.

Bentwoods, a major Marks &Spencer supplier and Tibbett & Britten Plc, the UK’s leading third party logistics services provider have placed contracts for the new version of the product.

WMS is being marketed by XeBusiness as both an integrated part of its own ERP business management system and also as a ‘best of breed’ solution capable of fast integration with any other systems already in place at a client site.

David Cullis, MD of XeBusiness commented:

"Warehouse Management and Distribution systems are now a strategic part of our product portfolio, particularly for UK based Apparel and Soft Goods suppliers, given the trend to source product off-shore. Our WMS product provides a highly effective, specialist solution for UK apparel suppliers and Third Party Logistics Providers (3 PL’s) to reduce cost and improve service levels in this crucial operational area."

Apparel Supply Chain Systems Buy Out from Kewill

A successful management buy out (MBO) of the Apparel Supply Chain Systems division of Kewill Systems Plc has just been completed.

The division, which formerly traded under the Kewill-Xetal brand had established itself as a major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/e-business systems vendor to apparel companies operating in the retail supply chain.

All members of the existing Kewill team participated in the buy-out and will take up key positions in the new company - XeBusiness - that will continue to market supply chain ERP solutions to apparel and soft goods companies in the UK and globally.

David Cullis, formerly managing director of the Kewill E-Commerce Europe operation, led the buy-out. He is now managing director of the newly-formed XeBusiness Ltd and has extensive supply chain and e-business experience.

Commenting on the focus of the new company, David Cullis said: "To stay ahead of the game apparel and soft goods suppliers in the retail supply chain are going to have to synchronise their business processes with those of their customers and suppliers, many of whom could be based anywhere in the world."

"Collaboration is going to become the name of the game to provide quick response to consumer demand and to dramatically reduce trading costs.

XeBusiness will supply the business management and collaborative trading applications closely linked to the Internet to help our clients achieve this."

A significant investor in the new company, leading fashion and marine brand Henri Lloyd, is a major user of the new company’s ERP system.

Martin Strzelecki, joint chief executive of Henri Lloyd added: "We have been highly impressed with the support we have received from the XeBusiness team.

"What XeBusiness plan to do, particularly in the e-business/Internet area, will take us where we want to go, given our position at the sharp end of the retail supply chain and our global sourcing operation."

XeBusiness has moved to new premises at the Trafford Plaza in Old Trafford, Manchester.

The company works with a number of leading apparel manufacturers, distributors and logistics providers in the UK and overseas, including Henri Lloyd, Castleblair, Dewhirst, Norwood Textiles, Bentwoods, Adria/Charnos, Tibbett and Britten, Transcare and Joint Retail Logistics (JRL).
